Year 1 marks the start of Key Stage 1, the next Infant education phase, where the children will begin learning through the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum. The transition between EYFS and Year 1 is carefully considered and the children will continue to learn through play with some free choice whilst they become used to more structured lessons. Phonics activities will continue to support the children’s reading with the Phonics screening taking place at the end of this school year.
